What's missing?

When we refer to having something missing in our lives, it is based on the belief that we are seeking to be complete. What is true is that we have always been complete. What we may be experiencing is more about our disconnection from that completeness. Most often I hear people say that they are looking for a partner to complete them. It is as if they have been walking around for most of their lives as a partial human being. Having this other person will make them whole. They fail to realize that they have within them all that is needed to be happy and fulfilled. When we speak of what is missing in our lives we are seeking completion from without rather than from within. We become dependent on externals which we know are transient in nature. It could be a person, an object, or a situation. Ask yourself what that missing part of you represents. Is it security, peacefulness, or confidence? Now ask that you find that attribute within you and begin to integrate it into your being. You have now found what is missing, but in reality it was never missing to begin with. What's missing in your life today that can be found within you?
