Who do you think you are?
The beliefs you hold about yourself can be clear indicators as to what you are experiencing in life. Think of how you complete "I am..." statements. "I am too old," "I am single," "I am unemployed." I refer to these as declarations to the world as to how you approach life. Then there are the "I don't have..." statements. "I don't have any money," I don't have anyone in my life," "I don't have a life." These statements reinforce what you are unlikely to attract: money, a relationship, or a fulfilling life. Finally there are the labels you apply to yourself. "I have a specific physical disorder," "No one will hire me," "I am clueless when it comes to anything technical." Imagine yourself wearing a large sign every day advertising your message as to who you are. These messages are about what you lack in life. Lack attracts more lack. Instead choose to focus on the positives of who you are. One of my declarations is "I am a powerful competent career coach." I watch how people and resources come to me that support this belief. This belief does not arise from the ego, but from the acknowledgement that what I do is a reflection of the gifts I have been given. You are also the recipient of a unique set of gifts. Claim them and focus on using them to do good in the world. You will be amazed at the results. Who do you think you are today and how are you using that to grow?
