Your emotional footprint
As you interact with people throughout the day, remember that you leave an emotional footprint upon each of them. Your words and actions affect another's feelings that may remain with them for years. Think back to situations in which the emotional footprint that was left was one of shame or guilt or resentment. How long have you been carrying these emotions recalling them in detail as if they just occurred? Now think of situations that generated feelings of joy and happiness and excitement. When you recall these events you are actually releasing a chemical called oxytocin into the brain that brings about multiple positive effects including a feeling of closeness to others. You feel more energy and a greater desire to move forward with your life. What was the last interaction you had with another person and what type of emotional footprint did you leave?
