Your loan agreement

As someone once pointed out, "We arrive on this planet with nothing and we leave with nothing." Everything we have in between birth and death is on loan to us. Having permanent possessions is an illusion. Think of what you owned as a child and its presence in your life today. The majority of those objects have long been gone. In some cases we still have keepsakes such as a teddy bear or a set of baseball cards. None of these holds a guarantee that they will still be with us to the end of our lives. All of these objects are on loan to us for the time they are intended to serve a purpose. When that purpose passes, they become a part of our past. While we have them, they should be recognized as a gift and valued accordingly. The same is true for the people around us. Some are with us for a short time while others occupy the majority of our lifetime. They, too, will come and go no matter how much we love them and desire that they be in our lives forever.
