Your set point
Imagine your set point as similar to a rubber band. You stretch the rubber band to its fullest and release it. It then returns to its original shape and position. Now apply this same principle to an area of your life such as your finances or your weight. This is most commonly seen when someone wins the lottery. They may have been living on a modest income and spent that income within their means. Suddenly they have millions of dollars in their bank account. Because that is not their set point, they will spend until they are back to where they were before they were millionaires. I know personally of such a person who did that just that. The same can be said about losing weight. The person sets a goal and reaches it. The physical transformation is amazing. Within a year they have gained their weight back plus a few additional pounds. We refer to this as yoyo dieting, another illustration of returning to a set point. What is the solution? It requires that you recalibrate your set point. Focus on what it means to have an abundance of money or living your life at the weight you desire. Keep that image in front of you at all times until it becomes your new set point. What is an area of your life that is based on your set point and what are you doing to reset it?
