Focusing on the positive
It is important that we stay focused on what is positive in our lives. There are a number of advantages in doing so. Focusing on the positive opens us to developing new skills. We find ourselves being more creative and productive in life. We feel more connected to others. When our positivity levels are low there are a number of things we can do to raise them. We can engage in activities we enjoy as a way to take our mind off of the problem. We can go for a 20-minute walk and appreciate nature at virtually no monetary cost to us. We can identify areas in our life in which we feel gratitude starting with being alive to experience what the day has to offer. We can plan to connect with others during the day and incorporate laughter into the time we spend together. All of these can make a difference in how we see life. It is the glass half full or half empty approach to life. I now see my life as being filled to the brim and overflowing bringing a sense of excitement and anticipation. It took me awhile to get here, but it is worth it. What are you doing to focus on the positive today?
