Go with the flow

One instruction that is provided to white water rafters has to do with what they should do if they fall out of the raft. I have been on several of these adventures and the advice the instructor gives is sound. The first thing that should happen is that another passenger in the boat should reach out to pull the person back to the boat and eventually into it. If that is not possible, the rafter should lie back with feet forward and allow the river to carry them until they can be rescued or approach shore. Having feet forward reduces head injuries. Allowing the waters to carry the person keeps the person from expending excessive amounts of energy which will tire them. It requires that the person be in a trusting state of mind to increase the chances of survival. The same is true of us as we go through life. When we are concerned about what to do next, most often the best way to approach it is to go with the flow. Relax your mind and allow it to open to possibility. Answers will begin to come. When we try to force solutions it is much like the rafter trying to swim against the current. Quiet yourself in whatever way works best for you. Then trust that you will know what to do. What is happening in your life today where being in the flow could make a difference?
