Hit or miss

Many people have become aware of the word "sin" to mean to miss the mark as it was related to an archery term in ancient times. Think about the times that you have missed the mark. You may have had good intentions, but for some reason the effect that your behavior had did not result in either yourself or others walking away feeling good about it. As an archer continues to improve on aim and technique, each of us can use our future experiences to come closer to hitting the mark. This involves a willingness to improve and an openness to the steps that it takes for this to happen. It also includes admitting when we have missed the mark. It requires us to make amends and ask forgiveness when we have done harm to others. It also requires that we forgive ourselves for missing the mark and refrain from self-condemnation. One quick way to identify whether you have hit or missed the mark is to check in with your feelings. They are a great indicator as to what your behavior has accomplished. What was the last miss you had and what did you learn from it?
