If only I hads

How much time do you spend focused on “If I only had”? You know the ones. “If  only I had studied harder in school.”  “If  only I had the courage to ask for that raise.” “If  only I had known then what I know now.” The list is endless. There is little you can do, if anything, to change the past. Why spend your precious time dwelling on it? Instead look to the present and what you have the power to change today to avoid the “If only I hads” in the future. This requires the courage to identify what it is that you desire now. If you are considering a move, what steps would you need to take for that to happen? How well does your new location truly match what would contribute to your sense of peace and happiness? What about it makes it so attractive? Have you actually visited the location to see if it would be a good fit for you? I know of people who relocated to Hawaii only to learn that they hated living near the ocean. Imagine the expense involved with learning that lesson. The “If only” that resulted was, “If only I had done my homework before I made this move.” This doesn’t mean that every decision you make will end exactly the way you wanted it, but you can reduce the “if onlys” by taking the time to think it through.  Sometimes it helps to ask for guidance from the Universe as you go through the decision making process. What are some of the “If only I hads” you have faced in your life and what did you learn from them?
