You have most likely received an offer that sounded too good to be true. It seemed like the answer to your prayers. So you proceeded to accept the offer only to learn later that it either didn’t deliver as promised or it was a scam to begin with. I have fallen prey to such offers costing me tens of thousands of dollars. In some cases I was able to retrieve my investment, while in a number of them it felt like lighting a match to my hard earned savings. If I accept that all of my experiences contribute to a clearer understanding of who I am, then these so-called opportunities definitely captured my attention for future such offers. If the offer sounds and feels familiar, I pass on it. That happens with most offers these days. It is my responsibility to do my research before saying yes. One red flag to an offer is when the person I am speaking to tells me that he or she is transferring the call to the supervisor who generally applies pressure to make a sale. That’s an instant, “No.” I also ask myself how this offer will add to the value of what I do and if there are less expensive ways to do that. Most of the time the answer is “Yes.” I actually feel a sense of empowerment when I pass on an offer. How well do you do on passing on offers that sound too good to be true?
