Practice, patience, and perseverance
It isn’t unusual to run into stumbling blocks as you develop a new skill. I was reminded of this recently when a class I am taking required me to post videos on their group site. This was the second time I had enrolled in the class. I had to drop out the first time because we could not get the videos to post. Needless to say, it involved quite a bit of frustration for all of us. When I ran into a similar problem this time, I made a conscious decision that I was going to solve whatever was contributing to the problem. In the meantime I planned to create my videos regardless of whether I could post them (practice). Unlike the first class, I decided to be patient with myself and accept that all of this was part of the learning curve in learning a new skill. I reminded myself of what it took for me to learn to work with a personal computer. That is an ongoing process as new software becomes available. Finally I was going to persevere in learning this skill no matter what or how long it took. I have no problem asking for help from those more experienced that I am in this area. I know that this will eventually come as second nature to me if I apply this approach. What is a skill that you acquired that required you to overcome any obstacles in learning it?
