Take time out to play
One way to stay in the moment is to engage in play. Watch a small child or a puppy at play and you will know what I mean. The child's face lights up and the air is filled with giggles when chasing butterflies or splashing in the pool. The puppy growls and thrashes its head back and forth as it plays tug of war with something as simple as a sock. There is sheer delight in experiencing the moment. As we age we may forget how to play. Somehow we equate play with immaturity. Instead we can look at it as a way to release the stresses of the day opening us up to new ways of viewing what is happening in our lives. We can approach tasks with a new sense of direction and purpose after play. I have observed more of a camaraderie among coworkers after they have taken a break to play. What are you doing to play today?
