The difference you make
One aspect of my occupation that I enjoy most is seeing immediate positive effects in the people with whom I work. They learn to compose a resume that leads to an interview. They report what happened when they use a networking strategy. They release emotions that have been trapped for years and experience life in a whole new way. These effects are the result of using the talents and skills I have been given. The same is true for each person reading this entry. You each have been given a unique set of skills and talents that can be used to make a difference in the world. Think about the people whose lives you have touched through the work you do. That not only includes your customers, it includes your coworkers and supervisors. It also includes your friends, family, and total strangers. A a former educator I am in touch with students I taught who are well into adulthood. They share their stories of how they are using what they learned during our times together. Sometimes it takes years before that becomes evident. Be aware that you are making differences in people's lives every day whether you realize it or not. What was the last difference you made for someone?
