The power of positive thinking

I recall awakening one morning to hear a radio broadcaster refer to an email he had received from one of his listeners. The listener pointed out how researchers are finding that having a positive attitude can make a difference in a person's health. When we think positively we reduce our stress levels. This in turn improves our immune system and can lower our blood pressure. People who focused on negative thinking and shared this with those around them were more likely to feel alone and depressed since they had fewer friends as a result of this behavior. Increasing the frequency of positive thinking is a conscious effort. Like unwanted weeds in a garden, we must root out negative thoughts for they will choke out the desired outcome. Begin by starting each day with an expression of gratitude. Look for the good in what is happening around you. Keep a journal of positive events. Refrain from watching television shows that focus on violence and abuse. These behaviors will put you on the road to positive thinking. What can you do today to make it more positive?
